Mariah is finally on the promo trail! She’s hit up Larry KIng, Leno, Letterman and Ellen so far and will soon drop her new video for H.A.T.E.U, the unofficial second single from her 4th Def Jam release “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel”!!!
Expect this album to be released later this year or early 2010. Tracks with R Kelly, Jermaine Dupre, Swizz Beatz and DarkChild are yet to be heard…
The Letterman appearance will air Friday the 13th and will feature a live performance of her H.A.T.E.U!!!
I was expecting a mess but got an album that should be titled “The Vindication of Amerie”!!!
It’s a great album, filled with production from small time producers and lyrics by writers no one knows. Somehow she turned out something brilliant and refreshing.

Amerie is her best at her roots, which is in r&b. She can do the urban dance pop thing too, the Beyonce thing but she’s gonna have to get bigger names, stronger producers if she wants to really slay that genre.
“Pretty Brown” and “Different People” are my favorite songs but alas neither is a single, which is why this album is gonna debut so low and shift so few records it’s first week.

Releasing what should have been the last two singles as the first two is proving to be a HUGE mistake as I said months ago… Those songs aren’t strong enough to create buzz! Who ever is choosing singles for Def Jam’s females needs to sit down and not get up until I say so. I hope it’s not L.A Reid (Rihanna and Mariah Carey are suffering for the same reason)
The album as a whole isn’t as listenable as I’d like nor are her vocals stellar; for that reason she won’t walk away from this review with a 4…
Overall this is a solid album that is gonna go unappreciated due to her management’s decisions. Amerie is vindicated at this point but not yet emancipated. She delivered with this album but the people in control need to be checked!

Lady Gaga is one of the most unique, artistic and talented new artist of the year. She’s sold 1.2 million copies of her debut album (more then any other new artist this year) and has scored 2 Billboard Hot 100 #1 (all four singles were top 10 hits) but one question has escaped the minds of fans and the media alike: Would she slay so hard if Fergie wasn’t working with the peas right now, if Gwen Stefani wasn’t touring with no doubt and if Britney wasn’t headlining one of the most profitable stage shows of the year??? This question escaped me too for a minute but now that I see it I have an answer…NO MAM!
A little over a year ago Fergie and Gwen were head to head in Britney’s absence, vying for the crown she was too busy eating, punching out kids, getting divorced and shaving her head to sport… Fergie ultimately was the victor but layed it down to be the first lady of Black Eyes Peas again. “The E.N.D” is one of the best albums of the year but unfortunately it ties her down for at least another 6 to 8 months. I’m sure she’ll record but we won’t hear any new music from Fergie the solo artist until mid to late 2010… Too a long a hiatus for me..
Gwen was able to co-exist with Kelly Clarkson and Mariah Carey in 2005, even in the mist of the emancipation but Fergie’s Will.I.AM enthused genre bending pop proved too much for the holla back girl. Her album did well but she was clearly number 2…
Those two wouldn’t have had it so easy if Britney was around! Fast forward to December 4th 2008! Britney drops “Circus”, shifts 505+ thousand copies her first week and debuts at #1. Her first single “Womanizer” tops several of Billboard’s list, including the Hot 100 and Britney begins to sell out huge arenas around the world, proving her milkshake still brings all the boys and everyone else to the yard…
If these three women were heavy in the press promoting albums and dropping singles right now, Lady Gaga would be that chick with the nose and the weird outfits that doesn’t sound like anyone else, not the pop phenomenon she presently is… I think she would have a really hard tim co-existing with these other much more attractive, much more conforming females
She picked the right time to do her thing, a year earlier would have been rocky and a year later would have been even harder but now that she’s established a strong fan base she should be just fine… Timing is everything in this game..
Awwww yes! Two of my favorites are simple counterparts of one another. Both debuted at # 1, both shifted 505k the first week and both had lead singles top the charts. Britney Spears and Beyonce dropped albums roughly a year and much has happened with there music and careers since. Beyonce crossed over and Britney dropped the baby fat and came back to slay the girls.

Britney came out swinging with her last album “Circus” scoring a #1 single and embarking on one of the biggest and most successful world tours of her career.
She’s been busy on the road and hasn’t been in the spot light half as much as Queen B but her tour grossed two to three times more coins then Beyonce’s “I Am” show…
Beyonce been pretty busy herself. She’s been everywhere, touring, promoting and making videos for an astounding 7 singles including her groundbreaking hit “Single Ladies” and crossover adult contemporary hit “Halo”… “I Am Sasha Fierce” has sold 4.2 million copies worldwide and counting!
Beyonce’s definately more popular but inside a year’s time Britney has scored more #1’s (3 and Womanizer) and at the same time hosted a larger more profitable show.
Beyonce’s singles charted higher overall but she only topped the chart once, de-throning T.I’s monster radio hits “Live Your Life” ft Rihanna and “Whatever You Like”.
So whose really the baddest b****, the one who bagged more coins or the one that’s more popular???

On November 23rd Britney will release her much anticipated singles collection, of which “3″ is the lead track. That same day Beyonce will drop “I Am Sasha Fierce” Deluxe Editon with her tour dvd and a live album… PLUS the 23rd will also see a Lady Gaga re-release and a brand new album from Rihanna entitled “Rated R”
I have no doubt that the 20/20 interview is gonna propel Rihanna to the #1 spot but Beyonce and Lady Gaga have remixed and shot a video together for Beyonce’s “Video Phone” and Britney Spears is riding the Billboard Hot 100’s upper hierachy with “3″! It’s gonna be a toss up!

In a recent interview Jay-Z spoke about “making babies” being high in the couples priority list. She’s finally got the time. The tour is pretty much over and new movies on her plate so maybe she’ll sit down somewhere and punch out a few??? Only time will tell!
Lee Daniels’ “Precious: Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” has exceeded even the highest of expectations in its opening weekend, according to estimates provided by Rentrak earlier today. The film – which has been the source of much anticipation and buzz since its Sundance debut in January – grossed a stunning $1,800,000 from just 18 theaters over the weekend, averaging an essentially unheard of $100,000. That gives it the third best live action per-theater-average of all time, surpassed only by 2006’s “Dreamgirls” and 2005’s “Brokeback Mountain.” However, those two films had opened on 3 and 5 theaters respectively. “Precious”’s wide-by-comparison 18 theaters make it all the more impressive.
“Precious” was distributed by Lionsgate, who had acquired the film shortly after Sundance in a heated bidding war. The deal, brokered by Cinetic, was said to be worth $5.5 million, and weaved in the support of both Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, who came on board as executive producers. The plan obviously seems to have worked so far, with theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta reporting large crowds and sell out shows for “Precious.” The film grossed $587,859 on Friday, and then rose to $699,514 on Saturday (averaging $38,800 per theater on that day alone), and was estimated to take in an additional $512,627 today.
The numbers countered the early expectations that director Lee Daniels says he had for the movie. “It’s still a bit premature as all the weekend numbers aren’t in yet,” Daniels told indieWIRE on Saturday, just as the film passed the $1 million mark. “Remember, I thought ‘Push/Precious’ was going straight to DVD and I was cool with that. So, when I got this info I was slayed.”
“Precious” will expand considerably this Friday, November 13th, both within the markets it debuted in and in the Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington, San Francisco, and Houston areas.

As Jay-Z begins to wrap up his ‘North American College Tour’ with Roc Nation affiliate Wale and his signee, J.Cole, he’s still prepping for his highly anticipated Blue Print III tour. The man, who apparently never sleeps, will trek across the country again to bring fans cuts from his #1 album. Jigga won’t be alone however and has announced plans to bring his “Real As It Gets”, collaborator Young Jeezy along for the ride.
Jeezy has officially been tapped to join Jay on stage for tour dates spanning from California to Missouri. Mr. CTE will officially join Jay on the 2010 BP3 tour starting February 22 in Houston, Texas. Tickets go on sale November 13 at LiveNation.com but Citicard members will have access to pre-sale tickets starting November 10 through their ‘Private Pass Program.’
Jay’s current North American College tour has included sold out dates at Pennsylvania State, UCLA, Northern Kentucky University and Eastern Michigan University.

YES!!!!! She looks amazing! I’m so glad she’s finally serious about promoting this album. She’s almost waited too late though… Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Britney Spears are readying releases while Mariah’s album has dropped from #10 to #26 on Billboard’s 200 album chart.

New artist and song writer Jason DeRulo tops billboard this week. I’m not all that impressed but he seems impressed enough with himself for both of us. He is topping the chart so I’m not gonna throw too much shade his way…
